Wednesday Night Freestyle Ice Time Change

Please note the dates (and time changes) for Wednesday night ice time from October through December are for 2 hours, from 6:15 pm until 8:15 pm unless otherwise noted. Please see our schedule for more information.

2007-2008 Skating Season Schedule

The 2007-2008 Skating Season will begin until Saturday Oct 13, 2007 and run through March 8th for a total of 22 weeks.

Classes for the Bridge students will begin at 8:45 until 9:45 am and Learn to Skate from 9:45 until 10:45 am. HMFSC will again be offering Freestyle ice packages on Sunday mornings from 9 until 11 am and on Wednesday evenings from 6:15 until 8:15 pm, beginning Oct 3, 2007. This will also be the date for those students who are unsure of their level and would like to be assessed by our coaching staff.

Liza Dickinson medals at Pittsfield Open!

Congratulations to Liza Dickinson, who represented the Hudson Mohawk Figure Skating Club at the Pittsfield Open on Sunday, February 11, 2007. Liza won a Bronze Medal in The Beginner Freeskate Program AND a Bronze Medal in No Test Spins. Liza competed against 11 other girls in this event and was the first skater of the flight! Liza your home Club is proud of you and your accomplishments!! Way to go Liza!!!

LINDA LEVITT AWARD WON BY ASSOCIATE MEMBER OF HUDSON MOHAWK CLUB! Lauren Lampiasi, from the Skating Club of Boston and an Associate Member of the Hudson Mohawk Figure Skating Club, won the Linda Levitt Trophy at the 2007 Garren Invitational. The trophy is awarded to the First Place winner in the Juvenile Ladies Free Skating event. This trophy is awarded each year in memory of Linda Levitt, a very active member of HMFSC when it was formally known as the RPI Figure Skating Club.

Reclaims the Palladino Trophy!!

On Saturday, January 27, 2007 members of the Hudson Mohawk Figure Skating Club reclaimed the coveted Palladino Trophy, donated by Mr. and Mrs. John Palladino at the Garren Invitational. The trophy is awarded to the skating club who accrues the most competition points. 1^st place gold medal winners receive 5 points through 5^th place winners receiving 1 point.

Tests Passed by Two Members

Congratulations to Rachel Abate and Mikayla Carhart who were judged by US Figure Skating Officials and passed their tests in 2006!

Rachel Abate passed Pre Preliminary Moves in the Field on April 19, 2006.

Mikayla passed Pre Preliminary Moves in the Field on May 20th and almost 6 months later to the day passed Preliminary Moves in the Field on November 19th.

Spring Ice - March & April - Application Available

The Club will once again be offering a Spring Ice Package at The Albany Rink (Hockey Facility by the airport). Dates will include March 7, 14, 21, 28, April 4, 11. The time is 5:00 - 6:30.

PRACTICE ICE - DAY OF THE GARREN

Practice ice will be $5 per session (CASH ONLY). There is limited space available therefore all skaters interested in a practice session should check in at the Hospitality Table and see Linda Abate . If space is available, Mrs. Abate will give those skaters wishing to practice a ticket to be submitted to the Ice Attendant before getting on the ice.

2006-2007 Membership - A GREAT YEAR!!

The Club is very excited as we enter the New Year with our numbers stronger than ever! Our current membership tops 130 members and is going strong!! As of the first week of January 2007 we have over 80 registered members in our Learn To Skate Program and 55 Registered Bridge and Advanced Skaters.

The Club welcomes new members at any point during the year. Now is a great time to get involved as we wind up our Fall/Winter Skating and move in Spring skating in March/April. For more information visit the “Spring skating” section on our site.

Club Members at First Night in Saratoga

Two of the Club's members skated at the 8th Annual First Night Exhibition in Saratoga Springs. Liza Dickinson, 10 years old of Brunswick and a 5th grader at Tamarac Elementary School skated to the Nutcracker Suite.

Makayla Carhart, 9 years old from Loudonville and a 4th grader at Shaker Elementary skated to Ice Castles.

Holiday Happiness

(US Figure Skating Sanctioned Event - Sanction #27626)

On December 9th the HMFSC held the annual Holiday Happiness. This year's theme was a visit to Radio City Music Hall. As always it was a great success! The Houston Field House was carried away to NYC where the Bridge/Advanced Skaters did a synchronized number to Frank Sinatra's New York, New York complete with a Kick Line. The skaters even spelled out N.Y.C at the end of the number! Other Bridge numbers included; Let it Snow and Santa Baby.

Our Learn to Skate Skaters entertained us with numbers such as; Beginning to Look Like Christmas, Marshmallow World, March of the Toy Soldiers, Jingle Bell Rock, Winter Wonderland, City Sidewalks, Santa Rock & Roll and undoubtedly the hit of the afternoon was our boys version of Frosty the Snowman!

There were also many beautiful Solo's performed. We thank Rachel Abate, Mikayla Carhart, Liza Dickinson, Hope Dedrick, Julianne Dimura, Alexis Fischer, Samantha Hoen, Lauren Lampasi, Hilary Rosenthal, Tiffany Savoca and Pairs Skaters Alyssa Bonesteel and Kaitlyn Gallant.

We were all thrilled with a surprise visit from Santa Claus who delivered beautiful synch-sack- back packs to all the Skaters and other special gifts to the children in the audience!

We also thank all of our families and area businesses that donated their time, services and items to our basket auction and concession stand. A special thank you to Karyn Richards, Lynn Tarnowski, Vici Armsby and Ellen DePan for their work on costumes.

Members of HMFSC Skate at RPI Hockey Tournament

On Thanksgiving weekend two of our Club members entertained those attending the RPI Hockey Tournament at the Houston Field House.

Liza Dickinson, 10 years old from Brunswick entertained the audience with Brian Setzer's jazzy version of the Nutcracker Suite, Choreographed by her Coach Donna Wojtowicz.

Tiffany Savoca, 15 of Clifton Park also entertained the crowds with a Blues Number.
