Which program is best suited for my skater?

  • Advanced:

Freestyle Ice time is available with Hudson Mohawk Figure Skating Club on Wednesday evening, Saturday mornings and Sunday mornings. An advanced skater is one who has begun to take US Figure Skating Tests or wishes to take private lessons with an instructor.

A skater may purchase the entire package or pay a guest fee of $17.00 per hour.

This enables the skater to work one on one with an instructor of their choice and will help to advance the skater in learning skills at a faster pace.

  • Bridge:

For the skater who is not quite ready to move into an Advanced Session but is ready to leave the Learn to Skate environment the Bridge Program is offered. This session meets on Saturday mornings at the RPI Field House. A group lesson is offered followed by a freestyle session. Private lessons can also be arranged during this session. This program enables the skater to work on more advanced elements. It is recommended that a strong Basic 4 level be attained before joining.

If you are not quite sure if this program is for your skater please contact us using our web form.

  • Learn to Skate:

Since 1951 our Learn to Skate program has offered skating to beginners and returning skaters to the program on Saturday mornings The Club offers lessons all skaters beginning at age 3. The Club does its best to limit the size of the classes which are based on age and skill level. There is a 30 minute group lesson followed by 30 minutes of practice time.

It is recommended that warm layered clothing be worn. Helmets may be worn by younger skaters. Mitten or gloves are a must.

Many of our members skate in the Learn to Skate (LTP) for several years before moving up. Other may move up earlier if taking private lessons and summer skating.
