3/11/2020 - HMFSC Updates
What a day! There is so much change and news that we want to share.
Before I get to our events, I need to say THANK YOU for all of the support. The messages and emails suggesting ice and the overall positivity have been so helpful, and our HMFSC board is so thankful. I also want to thank board members CharlieAnne Huffam, Tommie Palladino, Bobbi Hammond, Mark Kaplan and David DeFazio and Learn to Skate Director Donna Wojtowicz for their extra efforts over the last 2 days - a good team makes things possible, and they work hard all year.
Now on to the news...good and disappointing.
FREESTYLE ICE
We have freestyle ice for the following days & times:
Thursday 3/12, 6:30-8:00pm Clifton Park Rink
Saturday 3/14, 5:00-6:00pm Albany County Hockey Rink
Sunday 3/15, 8:00-11:00am Albany County Hockey Rink
Wednesday 3/18, 5:40-7:30am Albany County Hockey Rink
Punch cards will be honored at these sessions, and buy-on prices will remain the same ($10/30min or $20/hour). Punch cards will expire on 3/18 as originally planned.
LEARN TO SKATE
We will have our final Learn to Skate session on Saturday 3/14, 4:00-5:00pm at Albany County. If you cannot attend, please call 518-658-0114 or email skateHMFSC@gmail.com.
TEST SESSION
The test session WILL run on Sunday 3/22 at the Albany County Hockey Rink. Specific times are being planned and will be shared with test skaters. Practice ice will also be available for a fee.
Sk8 to Eliminate Cancer Fundraiser, Frozen 5K & Family Skate
We are postponing this event, and will let everyone know when a new date is selected. The donation portal is still open (https://www.mysk8.org/TroyNY2020) and we need just $110 to reach our goal.
The Garren
Sadly, the Garren is cancelled. It was a hard decision, but we considered the safety of our skaters and families, and our commitment to putting on a full and complete event with the same high quality that we have done for the last 36 years. Refunds to all skaters will be processed over the next week, and advertisers will be contacted. We have decided not to reschedule until the COVID-19 situation settles down.
Again, thank you all so much. Your support of our club means the world to us. Happy skating!
