People of all ages and abilities are invited to participate by skating laps or making a flat donation to support the 2018 U.S. Olympic Figure Skating Team.  A minimum donation of $0.20 per lap or $20 flat donation is requested of each skater participating.

U.S. Figure Skating’s Destination PyeongChang Family Tree program launched May 2017 to provide direct financial support to the families of each 2018 U.S. Figure Skating Olympian, ensuring that Team USA’s skaters will never be without their most critical support system — their families. Destination PyeongChang Skate-A-Thons, like the one hosted by HMFSC, serve as a way for U.S. Figure Skating member clubs to help raise funds and awareness for the Destination PyeongChang Family Tree, connect grassroots to the Games and support Team USA on its journey to PyeongChang, South Korea.

“This is a great opportunity for the skaters in the Capital District and anyone who wants to support Team USA!  We are excited to be able to host this Skate-A-Thon to help send Team USA figure skaters to PyeongChang  It is a great way for our local skating community to support Olympic athletes!,” said Tommie Palladino, HMFSC President. “We welcome all skaters in the Capital District to join us!”

The Destination PyeongChang Skate-A-Thon will be a fun time for all.  Fun prizes will be awarded for most laps skated, first skater to skate 100 laps, most money raised!  Skaters and skating clubs throughout the Capital District are encouraged to invite their friends and family!  Skaters will need to bring their own skates, as rentals are not available.  Skaters under the age of 6 require an adult skater on the ice.

In addition to funds raised by HMFSC, U.S. Figure Skating and Smucker’s have teamed up to sweeten the deal. Smucker's has pledged to match donations made by member clubs, up to $10,000, and all registered Skate-A-Thon participants will be entered to win a year's supply of Smucker's Uncrustables, with a secondary winner receiving four all-session tickets to the 2019 U.S. Figure Skating Championships.
