Spotlight on HMFSC Achievers
April 2025 Sara Manore

After trying different sports and activities in Clifton Park, Sara tried a Learn to Skate program in kindergarten. Within two classes she was hooked and within one month her parents knew they would be broke. Sara is now in 10th grade and she hasn’t looked back. While many skaters love to jump, Sara has always been interested in speed and footwork. This led her to focus on skating skills, dance, and synchronized skating. She has passed her Gold Test for Skating Skills, she competes at the Pre-Gold level for solo dance, and she travels back and forth to Syracuse every week to practice and compete with CNY Blizzard which is currently ranked as one of the top five synchronized skating teams on the East Coast at their level. Sara is happiest when she is skating with others. In addition to testing and competing she is a volunteer at the Clifton Park Learn to Skate program, she works for the Albany Figure Skating Club as an apprentice coach, she has volunteered at the Empire State Winter Games, and she has volunteered in Lake Placid at the Synchronized Skating World Championships. When not skating, she is an honor roll student in 10th grade at Shenendehowa High School where her favorite class is biology AND she is a Dean’s List student at Hudson Valley Community College–she started taking classes at HVCC in 7th grade because she thinks college is fun. While she’s not sure what she wants to study in college, she plans to continue skating. And in case you’re wondering if she does anything other than skating and school…in her free time she likes to read, study maps, do origami, and build with Lego. (And there was that time she built a small working trebuchet in the family living room…)
